Shona is a consultant with extensive experience in a broad range of environmental and energy issues. She has a strong background in physical and environmental science and an excellent understanding of the interdisciplinary nature of energy and environmental management.
Since joining the IndEco team in 2003, Shona has worked on projects covering a wide range of environmental and energy issues, including demand side management (DSM), mandatory federal/provincial emissions reporting, climate change mitigation and adaptation, and the Clean Development Mechanism of the Kyoto Protocol. Shona brings a variety of skills to the IndEco team, including excellent research and writing, organizational and consultative skills.
Recently, Shona has been working primarily on DSM, including designing and implementing DSM programs for a number of Ontario electric distribution utilities, assisting the Low Income Energy Network (LIEN) in the development of a DSM program design for low income homeowners in Ontario and preparing LIEN’s report to the Ontario Energy Board on the Regulated Price Plan for 2005 and its associated codes. In 2003, Shona conducted an extensive survey of DSM activities (including budget and target setting, tracking and reporting and the regulatory framework) in North American gas utilities for Enbridge Gas Distribution. As a follow up to this Shona consulted with a number of gas utilities across North America on their incentive mechanism and prepared a report for Enbridge Gas Distribution. Currently, she is working with Burlington Hydro to develop a program to encourage the installation of energy efficient lighting in newly constructed homes as well as developing a lighting retrofit program for commercial, industrial and institutional buildings in Burlington.
Shona has a Bachelor of Science from the University of Toronto and a Master's of Science in Geography from the University of Guelph.
