Sura has a background in mechanical engineering as well as an academic background in public policy issues as they relate to technology and environmental issues. Throughout her university studies, she has strived for an interdisciplinary education that would place her engineering education within its social and environmental context.
During Sura’s years as an undergraduate student, she worked as an engineering intern for Atomic Energy Canada Limited in various branches relating to safety and regulatory analysis and compliance. She has also held volunteer leadership positions in the non-governmental organization Engineers Without Borders, an organization that works on international development issues.
Sura's recent work with IndEco has included aiding industry with environmental reporting requirements and utilities with annual reporting requirements on conservation programs. She has also worked on energy plan development for institutional settings. Sura's diverse background has allowed her to develop her strengths in a well-rounded manner, and allows her to understand technical matters while seeing them in their larger environment. |
