IndEco to present at EUCI's CDM Performance Codes in Action

When: 23-24 February 2011

Where: Toronto, ON

Judy Simon, Vice-President of IndEco, will be giving two presentations at the EUCI conference on Conservation and Demand Management in Ontario: CDM Performance Codes in Action.

Her first presentation will be on The new CDM Code: How is it working. The new OEB CDM code establishes the rules under which electric utilities will design and deliver CDM programs to meet the energy peak demand and energy savings targets they must meet by 2014 - and starting in 2011 - as a new condition of the LDC license. This presentation will provide the regulatory and policy context for the CDM code, give an overview of the code contents, and discuss code implementation issues and opportunities.

On the second day of the conference, she will be presenting on Guidelines for low-income gas and electricity consumers in Ontario. The Ontario Energy Board is updating its electricity and gas codes to improve the level of customer care to address the special needs of low-income customers. In addition, the OPA is designing a new province-wide low-income program for local distribution companies to deliver, expected to be in market some time in 2011. The new CDM code also provides opportunities for LDCs to pursue low-income CDM programming that would complement the OPA program. On the natural gas side, Enbridge Gas Distribution and Union Gas are pursuing aggressive low-income DSM programs for 2011. This presentation will provide the regulatory and policy context for these initiatives, describe the initiatives, and discuss their implications for the future.
