Bulgaria's natural gas supplier Overgas has sold its first credits for greenhouse cuts made under a Kyoto Protocol emissions trading scheme to the Netherlands, it said on Wednesday.
Overgas, 50 percent owned by Russia's Gazprom (GAZP.MM: Quote) sold 292,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide offsets or Emissions Reduction Units (ERUs) to the Netherlands for about 1.48 million euros ($1.99 million) in the beginning of June, the company said.
"The quantities have been transferred to the Dutch national register. The proceeds will be invested in gasification projects which increase the energy efficiency in the Bulgarian towns," the company said in a statement.
